I know you’ve been working hard the last four weeks and that this time of the quarter can be stressful. On top of everything else in your life, you’re studying for midterm exams and working on mid-quarter projects.
As the Dean of Faculty, I really want to encourage you to stay in contact with your instructors. They are there to help and want to see you succeed!
Mid-quarter is also a time for you to provide feedback on the courses you’re taking. Please take a minute this week to complete the Mid-Quarter Evaluation in each of your courses. These evaluations are your voice and we greatly value what you have to say! Your feedback is totally anonymous, so please use this opportunity to let us know how things are going. By sharing your thoughts, we are better able to serve you, the student.
Keep up the good work and have a great week!

Finding Articles
When you have a citation, you have all the information you need to find the full article!
This short, informational video can show you how! This will come in handy when your instructor gives you a citation for an article to read for class or if you find a citation for an article while searching Google.
If you don’t have a citation to work from, you can still find articles on your topic. Here are some good interdisciplinary library databases to start with:
If you’re looking for something more specific, take a look at one of the library’s research help guides or ask me. I’m happy to answer any of your research questions!

Succeed in class with student tutoring!
Student tutoring is available as a free service for any course.
We highly recommend it to students who want to take control of their learning environment and master classroom concepts right from the beginning.
A tutor request form can be found at the student website. Please email your completed form to the Online Associate Dean of Students, John Birkland, and he will begin searching for your tutor.
The tutor with whom he will match you will have a proven track record of success. Tutors are only matched with students for classes in which they have previously earned either an A or a B. They are available to assist you up to one hour per week via either telephone or e-mail. They will be able to help answer your general questions, and will also assist you to gain insight into concepts presented in class.

Now Accepting Tutor Applications!
The Minnesota School of Business Online is currently accepting online student tutor applications.
Tutoring provides students with an opportunity to enhance their mastery of course materials, augment their teaching skills, and earn some extra money – all at the same time! It’s also a great résumé builder. Tutors typically commit one hour per week to assisting a peer in achieving their academic goals and are paid $8.50/hour for their time.
If you are interested please visit the student website, download and complete the tutoring application, and then return it to John Birkland. Your application will be reviewed and placed on file here in the Online Education department. You will be contacted once we receive a tutoring request for help that fits your particular skill set. Please note that in order to tutor a student in a particular course you must have previously taken it and earned a final grade of B or better.

Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy Update
This policy monitors students on a quarterly basis to ensure the student is progressing toward graduation both through successful course completion as well as grade point average. To graduate from a program, a student is required to earn minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.0 and a minimum successful course completion rate of 67% within a maximum time frame of 150% credits attempted. The new policy will more closely align these standards to student progression throughout their program.
The new policy can be found at our Student Website for your review. As Satisfactory Academic Progress policies are complicated, we encourage you to speak to someone in the academic department to receive further clarification if needed. We are committed to your success and wish you well as your progress through your academic program towards your new career!
