Have You Registered?


Registration for the spring quarter has been going strong for one week already!

If you haven’t done so yet, registration through the Student Portal will be available to you until Friday, March 6th . Remember, registration is on a first come - first serve basis. Register soon to ensure that you are reserving a seat in the classes you need to achieve your educational goals!

We understand that your time is valuable, and as a result, we have reviewed each of your files and developed a list of recommended courses for the spring quarter. This list is based on your program requirements as well as future quarter course availability. If you wish to register for courses other than those recommended, please contact a member of the education department to discuss how this may affect your ability to progress to graduation.

Important Note: Summer will have a 10 week quarter and the Education Department has carefully planned out spring and summer course recommendations based on course availability for the summer quarter. If you have questions regarding this contact your academic advisor.

If you need additional assistance registering for spring courses via the Student Portal, please feel free to contact the Education Department at 1-877-609-8889. Finally, following registration if you need to make any modifications (add/drop courses) you will need to contact a member of the Education Department directly.

Print your spring schedule from the Student Portal!


To learn about any specific software requirements, see your required book list and verify your schedule, follow the process below:

1. Click on “Academics” (in the upper left-hand corner of your screen).
2. Click on “Your Class Schedule” in the options that pop open.
3. Make sure that “View By Term” is set to “Spring 2009
4. Click “View PDF of My Schedule
5. Adobe Acrobat is required to view this document. Click on the link provided on your class schedule page to download and install it if necessary.

Spring Registration has Begun!


Registration for spring quarter is available today. Registration through the Student Portal will be available to you until Friday, March 6th.

Midterm Grades are Available!


Midterm grades for undergraduate courses are currently available in the student portal.

Midterm grades are submitted by faculty for all undergraduate courses. Grades are not mailed out.

To access your grades log into the student portal, click Academics > View My Grades > Filter Grades by Term.

It will take time for the data to load, so be patient.

Operation Minnesota Nice Project

This past December a lot of you helped brighten the day of 100 soldiers when they received our care packages along with an enclosed note, which included over 100 individual messages of appreciation sent from Globe Education Network students, faculty and staff.

Visit the Operation Minnesota Nice website to view Thank You notes written by a number of soldiers who received Minnesota Nice care packages like ours over the Holidays. Thanks to everyone who contributed to making this project a success.

Registration begins February 17th!


Spring quarter registration begins February 17, 2009. Spring quarter classes begin April 6, 2009.

On February 17, you will be able to see the course recommendations in the portal. View the Portal Registration Guide to access registration instructions.

Since summer quarter is a ten week quarter instead of twelve weeks, we are also providing the available courses for summer at this time. When you log into your portal, please review both the spring and summer recommendations.

Online Library Update


The library website and resources will be unavailable this weekend: February 6-8. Please plan your research accordingly.

Currently, there is a service interruption for 3 library databases: Gale (formerly called InfoTrac), EBSCO, and ValueLine. We are working on fixing this problem and hope to have things resolved shortly.

Important Summer Quarter Information


Did you know that there will be a three week break between spring and summer quarters?

That’s right! Spring quarter ends June 26, 2009. Summer quarter begins July 20, 2009.

Online summer quarter classes are being redeveloped to fit the ten week summer quarter. Due to this modification, the summer course recommendations will be included in the portal by February 16, 2009. When you review your degree progress audit for spring registration, please also review the summer quarter course recommendations.

Talk with your advisor if you have questions or concerns about the courses recommended for spring or summer. Following the course recommendations will help you to stay on track to graduation.

Unofficial Transcripts Available through the Student Portal!


Did you know that you can access your final grades and unofficial transcript free of charge within the student portal?

Log into the student portal, click Academics > Degree Audit

Just above the “Program Details” box, you will see a box titled “Reports” and within this box is an icon titled “Unofficial Transcript

Click on the words “Unofficial Transcript” to access this document. You may print or save it to your desktop. Adobe Acrobat is necessary to access this document. If you do not have Adobe Acrobat, you can access it and several other helpful tools by clicking here.

Students with holds or alerts may need to resolve those prior to attaining access to the transcript. Contact information to resolve these alerts and holds are within the specific message in the portal.

To access your grades log into the student portal, click Academics > View My Grades > Filter Grades by Term.

Have you tried Smarthinking?


As an online student you have access to a wide variety of academic services designed to help you succeed in class. One of them is an online student assistance service called “Smarthinking”.

Smarthinking is staffed 24/7. If you come up with a question during a late night study session, someone online at the Smarthinking website will be available to guide you to an answer. You can also submit questions for assistance, schedule a future session for guidance, or even submit an essay for review. Turnaround time is prompt. Submitted questions and essays are typically returned to students with comments within a span of 24 hours.

Smarthinking can be accessed in any online course room. Simply click on the “Tools” link to the left hand side of your screen and then click on the “Smarthinking Login” button. You will be directed to the Smarthinking login page.
